Virgin Galactic’s adventure began in 2005, and it was in that same year that our founder, Sir Richard Branson, first met with Governor Bill Richardson. In this early exchange, Richardson said, “If you’ll bring us a spaceline, we’ll build you a spaceport.” Richard held out a hand and replied simply, “If you’ll build us a spaceport, we’ll bring you a spaceline.” And the rest is history.

Thank you, Bill, for the foresight and vision that welcomed Virgin Galactic to be a part of New Mexico’s rich spaceflight heritage and future. New Mexico is not only a home for the commercial space industry but also home to our team who are sending people to space from the Land of Enchantment.
