The North Channel, between Northern Eire and Scotland, is featured on this false-colour radar picture from the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission.

Zoom in to discover this picture at its full decision or click on on the circles to study extra.

The North Channel is a strait linking the Irish Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean and spans a width of about 22 km at its narrowest level.

This dual-polarisation picture combines data from horizontal and vertical radar pulses. This processing method helps to differentiate various kinds of floor, thereby offering detailed data.

Right here, many of the land is proven in vibrant shades of inexperienced and yellow, with built-up areas showing a lot lighter than the environment. Water is clearly mirrored in varied shades of blue.

The rugged Scottish shoreline on the best is indented by a number of inlets, together with the big Firth of Clyde with the tiny Ailsa Craig islet at its mouth and the big island of Arran within the center.
