SpaceX to launch 23 Starlink satellites from Florida tonight

SpaceX plans to launch one other batch of its broadband satellites to orbit from Florida tonight (Jan. 13).

A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 23 Starlink spacecraft is scheduled to elevate off from Cape Canaveral Area Power Station tonight throughout a virtually 3.5-hour-long window that opens at 8:10 p.m. EST (0110 GMT on Jan. 14). 

You may watch the launch through SpaceX’s account on X, beginning about 5 minutes earlier than the window opens.

The Falcon 9’s first stage will come again to Earth about eight minutes after liftoff, if all goes in line with plan. It should land on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas, which can be stationed within the Atlantic Ocean.

It will likely be the twelfth launch and touchdown for this booster, in line with a SpaceX mission description. Amongst its earlier flights are seven different Starlink missions.

The Falcon 9’s higher stage will proceed hauling the 23 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit tonight. They’re going to be deployed there about 64.5 minutes after liftoff.

Tonight’s mission would be the first half of a Starlink doubleheader, if all goes in line with plan.

SpaceX additionally goals to launch a Starlink batch from California’s Vandenberg Area Power Base early Sunday morning (Jan. 14). That mission is scheduled to elevate off at 3:59 a.m. EST (0859 GMT)
