Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest peak, has seen its first snowfall after one of many longest intervals with out snow since data started 130 years in the past.

The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission captured this picture of Mount Fuji’s iconic snowcap on 7 November, a day after snow was first noticed by the Japan Mereological Company’s Shizuoka department.

Sentinel-2 carries a high-resolution multispectral imager to ship optical pictures from the seen to the shortwave-infrared area of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Knowledge collected from Sentinel-2 are used for a variety of functions, together with precision farming, water high quality monitoring and pure catastrophe administration.
