This extensive view of Copernicus Sentinel-3 reveals Cyclone Errol heading in the direction of the coast of Western Australia.

Errol was a robust tropical cyclone, which fashioned as a tropical storm initially of April 2025 and quickly intensified whereas shifting in the direction of northern Australia, passing from class 1 to five in 30 hours.

On 16 April, when this picture was acquired by Sentinel-3’s Ocean and Land Color Instrument, Errol reached its peak depth with wind gusts of 285 km/h. The everyday pinhole eye – a small, well-defined eye usually related to highly effective and quickly intensifying tropical cyclones – is clearly seen within the picture.

Regardless of its depth, Errol shortly weakened the next day, because it moved in the direction of Australia. This restricted its impression and injury on land to heavy rains in distant areas of the Kimberley area coast, which is seen within the cloud-free portion on the backside of the picture.
