SpaceX and NASA introduced Friday (Sept. 1) that the Crew Dragon capsule carrying their Crew-6 astronauts will now depart the Worldwide House Station (ISS) no sooner than early Sunday (Sept. 3), a 24-hour delay that pushes the crew’s splashdown to simply after midnight Monday morning. The Crew-6 astronauts have been initially slated to undock on Saturday and land the following day.

“NASA and SpaceX are standing down from the Saturday, Sept. 2, departure alternatives for the company’s Crew-6 mission from the Worldwide House Station as a consequence of unfavorable climate situations close to the splashdown websites off the coast of Florida,” NASA officers wrote in an update Friday morning (Sept. 1).

The Crew-6 Dragon capsule is now scheduled to undock from the ISS on Sunday at 7:05 a.m. EDT (1105 GMT), with splashdown to observe on Monday at 12:07 a.m. EDT (0407 GMT). However that schedule depends upon native climate situations on the Crew-6 Dragon’s splashdown websites, NASA officers mentioned. 

“Mission groups will meet Friday night to find out the viability of the following Crew-6 undock goal,” the wrote within the replace. “The Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavour, stays wholesome whereas presently docked to the area station as Crew-6 prepares for his or her return journey to Earth finishing a virtually six-month science mission in orbit.”

The 4 astronauts returning to Earth on Crew-6 are NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren “Woody” Hoburg, the United Arab Emirates’ Sultan Al Neyadi and Andrey Fedyaev of Russia’s area company, Roscosmos. They launched to the area station on March 3 and are finishing a six-month expediting to the ISS.
