Seeing Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) from Australia (perhaps)
Night
sky from Friday, Could 2 as seen from Adelaide at 17:59 ACST (30
minutes after sundown), C/2025 F2 SWAN is current in
the twilight though unlikely seen.  Within the coming days it’s going to rise larger within the twilight however will solely be a binocular object at finest. Related views might be seen from the remainder of Australia at roughly the equal native time (30minutes after sundown, click on to embiggen).

sky on Tuesday, Could 6 as seen from Adelaide at 18:25 ACST (60

If comet C/2025 F2 SWAN survives perihelion on the first of Could, it will likely be seen low within the twilight. Not like comet C/2024 G3 it won’t be seen to the unaided eye, even by theoretically seen (magnitude 6), its place low within the twilight murk means binoculars will at all times be wanted.

You will have a transparent, degree horizon just like the ocean or desert to see the comet. It would fade quickly after perihelion. This and its location within the horizon murk means the window of alternative for binocular viewing is slim.

The earliest we are able to moderately see the comet right here in Australia is Could sixth, when it’s roughly 5 levels (a couple of hand-span) above the horizon at nautical twilight. Though roughly magnitude 6 it will likely be laborious to see within the twilight.

As C/2025 F2 SWAN passes by Taurus and into Orion it’s going to rise into darker skies, however be fading quick, so sill be tough to see, regardless of good information stars. See printable charts above. Print them out and use with a red-light torch (or a typical torch with
pink cellophane over it) in order to not disturb your night time imaginative and prescient.
