Final July, a crew of robots explored a simulated martian panorama in Germany, guided by an astronaut aboard the Worldwide House Station. This was the ultimate session of the Floor Avatar experiment, a joint initiative between ESA and the German Aerospace Heart (DLR) to analyze how astronauts can remotely management robotic groups.
This newest session occurred on the DLR web site in Oberpfaffenhofen and launched new ranges of autonomy, decision-making and realism, bringing Europe one step nearer to seamless human-robot collaboration in area exploration.
