A cosmonaut took a check trip on the top of a European robotic arm throughout a six-hour 35-minute spacewalk outdoors the Worldwide Area Station Wednesday amid work to put in three micrometeoroid particles shields and relocate a piece platform.

Cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin put in the particles shields over two areas on the Russian Rassvet module the place an experiment airlock and radiator panel had been mounted for a number of years. Each have been moved to the Nauka multi-purpose lab module throughout spacewalks earlier this 12 months.

After the particles shields have been in place, a transportable work station was connected to the top of the European Robotic Arm. Prokopyev then climbed aboard to check the arm’s stability whereas Andrey Fedyaev operated the robotic appendage from a management panel inside Nauka. There have been no obvious issues.

After jettisoning no-longer-needed antenna covers and launch restraints that had held the work platform in place, the cosmonauts returned to Poisk to shut out the 267th spacewalk dedicated to ISS meeting and upkeep, the tenth to date this 12 months.

It was the sixth tour for Petelin and the eighth for Prokopyev, shifting him as much as eleventh on the checklist of most skilled spacewalkers with a complete of 55 hours and quarter-hour working outdoors the ISS.
