Nasser had investigated this unusual label, having confirmed that Venus has no recognized moons, and found that the identify (and the inclusion of the moon itself) was a mistake made by the artist who had made the poster. When researching which moons to incorporate, Alex Foster, the artist, had seen one thing on-line concerning the discovery of Venus’ quasi-moon and had written “2002VE” in his notes, later misreading it as “ZOOZVE.”
Nasser reached out to Brian Skiff, convincing him to pursue an official renaming of the item to the extra pleasant Zoozve, and on Feb. 5, 2024, the IAU officially announced the newly named quasi-moon.
Though Venus stays a moonless planet, its newly-named quasi-satellite is a welcome addition to the planetary household.
