After an intense few weeks the crew took time to rejoice along with a shared meal proposed by ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot.
It’s a protracted‑standing custom: every ESA astronaut works with a chef to create a number of particular dishes reserved for uncommon events — generally known as “bonus meals”. Sophie’s bonus meals was created by multi‑Michelin‑starred chef Anne‑Sophie Pic, providing the crew a style of French gastronomy removed from Earth.
Bonus meals, tailor-made to particular crew members, makes up round one tenth of an astronaut’s menu. Astronauts say it provides selection to their meals, helps psychological effectively‑being, and helps strengthen bonds among the many crew in orbit.
